My 5 Favourite Organic Skincare Products
Clean, vegan, plant-based – what sounds like the beginning of a food post, is actually my intro to an all new Beautyreport. Today I want to talk about organic skincare! What does „organic“ mean? Why did I switch my daily products? And is it really worth the hype? Last but not least, I will spill the beans and tell you all about my five favourite organic skincare products, because it wouldn’t be a valid Beautyreport without insider tips. Ready?
Organic Skincare Products – What’s found inside?
Is it just me or have you noticed as well the various so-called seals of quality that roam around bottles and tubes of beauty products these days?! It’s either vegan, plant-based, not tested on animals, fair trade, organic or all of these in one! There’s no one seal that determines organic skincare as such. Great, just another thing to be careful about! Still, it’s worth an extra glance or two since natural skincare or organic skincare is mostly produced eco-friendly and uses natural ingredients.
Even though there isn’t a standard seal of quality just yet, organic skincare never uses certain ingredients just as polyethylenglycol (PEG), silicones, parabens, artificial fragrances, paraffine and mineraloil-based products in general. Often, if not all the time, organic skincare ingredients are harvested from environmentaly stable fields and factories. If you want to learn more about the current seals of quality and the law behind that, read on here.
My Organic Skincare Story
My skin acted out crazy for years and turning to organic skincare really was the last straw for me to finally turn it around. I was almost used to redness, dry patches, breakouts and acne-prone skin when I met Silke who pointed me towards organic skincare products from PRIMAVERA. At first, I was taken aback, since the price tag was way more than I was used to spending on beauty products, but the products really were a heaven-sent solution for my already battered skin.
Within six months, my skin turned remarkably better and looked more even. Switching to organic skincare isn’t the sole magic key though. To support the new products and help my skin to heal, I changed my lifestyle to enhance their performance. Since the products from PRIMAVERA are quite pricey, I am always on the hunt for equally good products that are more affordable for me. So far, I learned that organic skincare can be very different from brand to brand. Some even use alcohol or artificial fragrance in some products! It wasn‘t easy, but I found five organic skincare products that truly work and of course I want to share them with you today.
My 5 Favourite Organic Skincare Products
From experience I know that there is a solution for acne-prone but sensitive skin. It’s not the harsher the better when it comes to skincare products! All of the following products have been tested by me, I used at least one full bottle or pot and bought many of them twice or even more often. If you have any products to add, please let me know in the comments below.
1. Lavera Ginkgo & Organic Grape Cleanser
One of my latest finds is this great cleanser. It’s not easy to find a cleanser that’s gentle yet effective enough but Lavera’s Ginkgo & Organic Grape Cleanser totally fits the bill. The grape extracts clean thoroughly and even out your skin tone. I prefer a foamy cleanser at night, since I think it’s more effective that way. If you have very sensitive skin you should probably shy away from foamy cleansers as they can be too harsh on your skin.
2. PRIMAVERA Intensive Vital Rose Pomegranate Serum
A very luxurious treat and my favourite product from PRIMAVERA is their Intensive Vital Rose Pomegranate Serum. It’s refreshing yet light and works wonders applied mornings and nights before your usual moisturising routine. I love that it sinks in almost immediately and leaves that fresh feeling on my face. I feel instantly pampered as my skin drinks it right up and the amazing rose fragrance doesn’t hurt as well.
I am not sure if it’s a product you need necessarily but it sure is a special treat for your skin. However I can only whole-heartadly recommend this PRIMAVERA organic skincare products if you need help with your thirsty summer skin.
3. Weleda 2-in-1 Cleanser
In the beginning I wasn’t so sure about this cleansing concept. Meanwhile I am the biggest fan and purchased at least three more bottles of that stuff. The Weleda 2-in-1 Cleanser works quick and easy, is very thorough and smells heavenly fresh. If you need to get rid off heavy make-up, I would suggest a foamy cleanser first and this one right after.
4. Weleda Almond Cleansing Milk
The most gentle cleanser of the bunch would be this Weleda Almond Cleansing Milk. It’s unbeatable and I would suggest it for the most sensitive skin even. The almond fragrance might be strange at first, but believe me, you get used to that easily. I repurchased it many times already and will continue to do so. Honestly, I love the whole Weleda Almond range, especially during winter since the products leave a bit of oily residue that makes for a nice extra shield on colder days.
5. Dr.Hauschka Clarifying Day Oil
Have you tried a cleansing oil yet? I love to include oils into my nightly cleansing routine to not only clean but also pamper my skin. One of the first ones I tried was actually Dr.Hauschka Clarifying Day Oil. It’s supposed to prevent breakouts and I like that it worked like a charm on my sensitive but still oily skin. If you want to use a cleansing oil during summer, this one would be your best fit!
Have you tried any of those products yet? What is your favourite organic skincare product right now?
